Location

Between Taygetos and Parnasos mountains, view on Xirokambi

Where are we?

Taleton Eco Guesthouse is located in the southeastern part of the Peloponnese, in the province of Lakonia, in the village of Xirokambi. The Peloponnese is a delightful peninsula full of legends, myths, natural beauty, ancient monasteries, picturesque towns, and authentic villages. In the region of Lakonia, between two imposing mountain ranges Taygetos and Parnon, stretches the fertile valley of the Evrotas river. Here you will find colorful citrus and olive trees, as well as cotton, vegetables, and delicious strawberries being grown. The highest peaks are often covered with a layer of snow in winter, while the sea is always nearby.

Nature

Xirokambi is located at the foot of the Taygetos mountain range, an impressive mountain ridge that extends over a distance of 120 km to the south. It is a fantastic natural area, rugged, unspoiled, and lush green. You’ll find quiet mountain villages, ancient mule paths, dense forests, caves, and some deep gorges. The nature is rich in wild oregano, chamomile, and sage, cypress, almond trees, eucalyptus, acacia, holm oak, and black pine. There are about 85 bird species, including owls, hawks, blue rock thrushes, buzzards, falcons, and golden eagles. No wonder the area is part of the Natura 2000 network.

The village

Xirokambi is a lively village with a charming square surrounded by shops and tavernas. Here you will find authentic, stone houses and ancient olive trees. From the village, you can directly access the impressive Anakola Gorge or walk over the centuries-old arch bridge to the forest.
