Mystras

Mystras is known as ‘the wonder of the Morea’ and served as the main political and spiritual center of the Byzantine Empire. The remains of this abandoned Byzantine city and the view over the mountains are impressive. It is advisable to walk from top to bottom (wear good shoes!) and imagine that about 40,000 people once lived here. At the end of August, there is a large flea market every year where sellers from all over Greece offer their goods.
